Payment services provided by Wolt License Service Oy as indicated in Annex I to Directive (EU) 2015/2366 of the European Parliament and of the Council of November 25, 2015 on payment services in the internal market:

3a) Execution of payment transactions, including transfers of funds on a payment account with the user’s payment service provider or with another payment service provider: execution of direct debits, including one-off direct debits.

3b) Execution of payment transactions, including transfers of funds on a payment account with the user’s payment service provider or with another payment service provider: execution of payment transactions through a payment card or a similar device.

3c) Execution of payment transactions, including transfers of funds on a payment account with the user’s payment service provider or with another payment service provider: execution of credit transfers, including standing orders.

4a) Execution of payment transactions where the funds are covered by a credit line for a payment service user: execution of direct debits, including one-off direct debits.

4b) Execution of payment transactions where the funds are covered by a credit line for a payment service user: execution of payment transactions through a payment card or a similar device.

4c) Execution of payment transactions where the funds are covered by a credit line for a payment service user: execution of credit transfers, including standing orders.

5) Acquiring of payment transactions.

As an E-money and payment institution under the supervision of the Finnish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finanssivalvonta), Wolt License Service Oy is an obliged entity in accordance with the Anti Money Laundering Act (444/2017 ‘AML Act’) and other legislation derived from the EU Anti Money-Laundering Directives (AMLD). Accordingly, in its operations Wolt License Services follows the provisions of the AML act to mitigate the risk of being used for the purposes of money laundering or terrorist financing. These requirements are met by the below steps and they are confirmed to be in compliance with the European Regulation on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data (GDPR, 2018/1725).

Wolt License Services Oy has a legal obligation to identify and know its customers. This information will be used to prevent illegal activity such as money laundering and terrorist financing and protect the Merchants from the risk of fraud. The information will be gathered during the customer onboarding and updated whenever there are any changes in the customer relationship impacting the KYC/B data, such as change of customer representative, change of bank account, etc.

When a Merchant is due to complete KYC & KYB, they will receive an email prompting them to log into the Merchant Admin portal and complete the following steps:

  • Identity verification.

    Verify the identity of the official signatory of the company either by electronic identity verification or photo-based document identity verification.

  • Review and fill in company details.

    Available business information is gathered from local business registers. The merchant is asked to confirm the information, provide any missing details and upload documents to prove the validity of this information. Additionally, the merchant should provide the names of the company representative, Board Members and Ultimate Beneficial Owners, together with documents to prove the validity of this information.

  • Bank account verification.

    Wolt License Services Oy verifies the bank account provided for payouts is owned by the merchant company. A verification document must show the bank name, account number and bank account owner information.

The aforementioned process contains a specified timeline for completion. The merchants are contacted by email and phone if needed in order to complete the KYC process. Merchants who do not provide the requested information upon request and timeline can face implications, as specified in the applicable AML regulation, we are not able to accept non-compliant Merchants as our customers, and we will seize payouts to them after the deadline has passed.
